Inspired by local colonial history this elegant recently built home is perched high above Windward Bay and English Harbour and directly across Shirley Heights Lookout and the Pillars of Hercules landmark. The ocean views from this point are just stunning. It is a perfect spot for taking in the setting sun overlooking Montserrat and Redonda. To the south, Guadeloupe can be seen as well.

The house was built to fit in with the local historically rich environment of Nelson’s Dockyard and the National Park and the remains of strategic military installations, recently inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Upon entering this unique property, you will be astonished by its 18th century replication both on the interior and exterior. Identical replicas of cannons from the 18th Century French Frigate “Hermione” are strategically positioned at the entrance and above the pool to salute the entry of the Dockyard. On the inside of this modern 18th century style home selected decor, fixtures, lighting, and paintings were carefully chosen and placed to depict a typical house of this period.

Built from local stone, the villa occupies about 2 acres of a harbour side promontory, of the prestigious Windward Estates. Its unique location enjoys breathtaking sea views, and pleasant sea breeze all year round. The closest beaches are Windward Bay and Pigeon Beach.

The 8-bedroom property is comprised of the Main House, the “Grenier” (or loft), Guest Cottage, Children’s Cottage, swimming pool and its gazebo, surrounded by a lush garden.

The villa is available as a vacation home with 4, 6 and 8 bedroom options. It provides an ideal accommodation for those who love colonial history as much as the owners, families and group of friends, during regattas, as well as the perfect spot for events such as weddings or film shootings, this home will leave everyone astonished by its beauty and colonial historical charm.

Two bedrooms are located on the main level, one bedroom is located on the lower level, and last bedroom of the main house is located in the “Grenier” (or attic). The other two bedrooms are located in the Guest Cottage.

The Main House is comprised of the Great Room, a formal living and dining area furnished with crafted colonial period mahogany furniture, decorated with historical paintings depicting the lives, loves and battles of Admiral Horatio Nelson and Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte; this room is surrounded by the Veranda and an adjoining Montserrat Terrace, an outdoor covered area where breakfast, lunch and dinner can be enjoyed in a comfortable atmosphere.
On the same level is the Den, a comfortable area with a leisure atmosphere to lounge, watch television, or enjoy a drink while taking in the view of Freeman’s Bay. Adjacent is the Master Bedroom with its antique queen size Antilles four-poster bed, en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet. On this same level are a charming single bedroom, a guest powder room, and a fully equipped kitchen in which you can enjoy three beautiful sea views while preparing meals. On the lower level is the “Atelier” which overlooks Freeman’s Bay and the Pillars of Hercules, housing a carved four-poster bed, bathroom and exquisite antique pieces of furniture.
In the adjoining structure are the staff bathroom, laundry and linen storage, and the very British decorated Sports Room (with view of Pillars of Hercules) equipped with a Unica multi-faceted sports machine. Up the stairs is located the “Grenier”, a loft-like living space with a queen size four-poster bed, dressing area, bathroom with large walk-in shower, and small kitchenette to store drinks, snacks, and to make fresh pot of coffee.

The swimming pool, the ocean waters in the distance and the blue sky above all come together to form a sense of continuity with the horizon. A replica of a fort wall that is reminiscent to the military fortification so typical of the English Harbour in its glory days separates the pool from the sea. Just next to the pool is a small sandy beach with sea grape trees that give welcome shade from the Caribbean rays. The Pool Gazebo offers shade, a luncheon area and a fridge. An outdoor shower and lavatory facilities are available for your convenience.

The main house is equipped with Wi-Fi and cable TV.
The property is maintained by a housekeeper, a gardener and a pool-cleaning service.

Windward Estates is a gated community with security guards on duty 24 hours a day.

A separate building houses the Guest Cottage, a charming place with sitting room, kitchenette and TV. There are two bedrooms with their own bathrooms, one with two twin brass beds, the other with a lovely carved king size four-poster bed.

Down the hill a bit sits the Children’s Cottage. A tad far from the Main House, this cottage, while not self-sufficient, offers privacy to the young ones-and their parents-with a parents’ room with a king size bed, and in the children’s area two daybeds with trundle to provide sleeping for four children, if you dare! Each room has its own bathroom. In the absence of children, this cottage is perfectly suitable for adults.

When the sun has set and the stars begin to shine, the curtain can rise on the evening’s entertainment, especially during the winter months when the island is at its busiest.
Above the harbour, at Shirley Heights, are the partially restored fortifications of the harbour's colonial observation post. The view from Shirley Heights extends out over the harbour and far across the Caribbean to Montserrat and Guadeloupe. Everyone heads here on Sundays. The party begins as the sun sets and the steel band sound fills the air, followed by the exciting energy of reggae and soca live music. Barbequed food is available to soak up some of those rum punches. The steel band also plays on Thursday nights from 4pm. Shirley Heights can be reached via Lookout Trail, a nature walk that departs from Galleon Beach through a forest of trees. Descending the trail is not advisable after dark or barbecue revelry.
